For centuries, monastery brewers dried malt over an open fire, where the smoke from the wood penetrated the grains and gave the beer a unique character. This year we are continuing this tradition – smoked malt, a common ingredient in our pilgrimage specials, connects Czech and Slovak monastery breweries. Our pilgrimage special is Rauch Ale with subtle smoky notes. Let’s toast to tradition and beer craft!
The Pilgrimage Special was created in cooperation with Plzeňský Prazdroj and 5 monastery breweries in the Czech Republic and Slovakia: Ossegg Brewery (Osek), Vorkloster Monastery Brewery (Předklášteří), Břevnov Monastery Brewery of St. Adalbert (Prague), St. Norbert Brewery in Strahov (Prague) and Červený kláštor (Slovakia).
